La prima giornata
In 2024 we acquired our first piece of land in the hills of Turin at 320m above sea level. The plot is 0.5 hectares of apricots that we are intercropping with different aromatic plants.
Analysis
Soil characteristics
This plot is primarily an alkaline clay loam soil with abundant mineral nutrition. It has decently high inorganic carbon bound with calcium in the form of calcium carbonate, but has a relatively low organic carbon and nitrogen contents.

Management
This plot contains primarily apricot trees which are widely spaced, allowing us to establish a mixture pf perrenial and annual aromatic plants and vegetables between the rows. This plot is managed organically using minimal tillage following the contour of the slopes.
